When I first started photography I got a phone call from this little 13 year old girl from my church, Ashley. I taught Ashley in church and I knew that one day she was going to change the world. Ashley asked me “will you take some pictures of me?” Knowing I needed a lot of practice I said “I would love to practice on you.” So we went out and shot some of the worst pictures I have ever taken. Oh my gosh…they were bad. And Ashley was so cute about it “I think they are great.” She was such a builder in my early days of my business. So she continued to allow me to call her up and ask her if I could “practice” on her. She was fantastic to always be there when I needed her. For years I said to her “one day I will photograph your wedding.” Then came the time when she fell in love with Sam. She called me up “Kandis, he is so great! I can’t wait for you to meet him.” Now I’m not going to lie, I was skeptical. Ashley, is seriously one of the most amazing souls I have ever met in my life. She is a women that all girls should aspire to be like. I knew that she would have to meet someone pretty spectacular to match her…I didn’t know if someone would ever exist to be her equal. I WAS WRONG. One day we went to dinner together so I could meet Sam. He was her equal in every way. As I sat across from them, I got an amazing confirmation that he was her match. I couldn’t have been happier for them.
Now, Ashley has always been above the mark when it comes to fashion, so it was no surprise to me that she would wear pants for her wedding. And let me just say..she made her outfit. Shirt, pants, skirt…all of it! She is amazing. When I asked her “where did you find the fabric? It’s amazing” Her and Sam started to laugh. Sam found the fabric…from a thrift shop. And it wasn’t a bolt of fabric he found, it was drapes….DRAPES! Talk about creativity.
I also loved Sam’s speckled wool suit…it was perfect.
Sam and Ashley are a perfect couple. It was a career long reward to be able to photograph my muse as she got married.
Prior to their wedding we did some formal portraits at the Capitol building in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was a perfect location for their classy look.
I am beyond happy for these two. They are my favorite people!
