A Shy Little Princess

February 11, 2019

It is rare that I do a session and I can’t get a child to open up.  I have shot hundreds of shy children and within 10 minutes I am able to get them to relax and talk to me.   Even if they don’t talk to me I am able to get them to look at the camera.  I felt soooo bad at this shoot.  The sweetest princess Kendyl was so shy and I couldn’t get her to open up or even look at me.   We had this beautiful dress and we planned this beautiful shoot up in the mountains.  I had spent a few hours with her before getting her princessfied.   I did her hair and a little bit of makeup and she was so shy.  We arrived to the session and she was so shy she didn’t even want my camera in her face.   Part of the problem was, she was SO cold.  So we postponed the session till the next day.  We chose the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Downtown Salt Lake City for the location.   Prior to arriving I talked with her mom and suggested her mom stay just out of eye shot so she didn’t feel like she could “cling” to mom when her shyness was overwhelming.  This was the ticket.  He mom was never too far away, but she was so much more comfortable with me this day.  I was able to chat with her and get her to participate.  In the end we got some beautiful images that are so sweet.

Come to find out that very evening she came down with the flu.  I now contribute the meltdown to the oncoming sickness.

I’m so grateful for clients like these that trust the process and trust me to do what I need to, in order to get the images that we desire.

XOXO
