A Gypsy Fortune Teller

October 2, 2014

Back in 2013 I said to my husband “Babe, I really want to do a shoot with a gypsy wagon”.  His response was not what I thought.  I thought for sure he would have been like “where you going to get one of those.”  But instead he said “Let’s find you one.”  For months and months we searched for a wagon to make into a spectacular gypsy wagon.  And to no avail we couldn’t find one in our budget.  Until one day….(dun dun dun)….it was Easter morning when my super awesome hubby came running into the bathroom as I was getting ready for church with a listing of this beat-up, trashed wagon.   “Babe…it’s only $300.00!” me….”CALL THEM NOW!”  Fast forward 2 hours.   We are sitting in church and I couldn’t stop thinking about the wagon.  So I insisted that he go get it for me after church.  And so on Easter (something we never would have done, in a million years) him and my Dad and brother in law went and picked it up.  I guess it was a big ordeal for them to get it…and not to mention it was loaded with trash and all sorts of yucky buggies.  (shiver).  I soooo bad wanted to Instagram my new prop when it came to my house…but I kept my lips sealed (to all but a few people).  Over the next few months we worked on the wagon to get it ready for a shoot.

And finally…it was done….and I just had to do my session.  So I searched for the perfect face to be my Madame Zora…the gypsy fortune teller…and I found her.  Miss Ambyr.  Then I found the makeup artist and hair stylist who would match my Vision.  Miss Bianca Marie   was it.  Then it was time to roll.

I am so excited about this session…that I can’t even stand it.  We started later than normal last night shooting and there was literally NO light.  I could have broken out my lights but I really wanted them to have a moody look…so instead I chose to push my camera to it’s limits.  Albeit the images have some grain in them….I LOVE them that way now.  Totally what I was hoping for!  I am sooooo excited. {I may or not be jumping on my bed right now}

Thank you to My sweet hubby Dave for helping me transport, paint, sand and transport again this ginormous non-motorized prop.

Thank you to my dear friend Amy McFarland for the words of encouragement and helping me with the final touches.

Thank you to my brother in law Kurtis and my Dad for also helping move this monstrosity.

A special thanks to our ‘guest’ model Mr. Kaan. {wait till you see him}

{why all the thank yous?  Because this project I couldn’t have done on my own}

And thank you to those who I told about this project, who didn’t spill the beans.
