A few years back as I was planning one of my photography workshops I was trying to think of what I could do for a childrens session. I did a brainstorm, like the cluster kind you use to do in 8th grade english class. As my mind was reeling with ideas, the brainstorm lead me down a path of what I loved as a child….I landed on Rainbow Brite. How could one not love Rainbow Brite? I mean she was the original “I can do it all” girl…well in my book anyway. I knew I needed to do a Rainbow Brite inspired shoot. So I set out to find the perfect outfit, ETSY to the rescue. I couldn’t believe I found nearly exactly what I was looking for. A vintage Rainbow Brite printed getup. I mean the gal who made this was genius…wanna know why? Cause she made it out of bed sheets. I mean come on! How much cooler can you get?! SO I ordered the outfit and found the perfect little redhead, Emma to model for my workshop. She was amazing. So full of life, and so freaking sweet.
I had a blast with her, and so did the other women.
When we were shooting on Main Street in Park City, Utah….I snuck away to a little ice-cream shop. I picked her up an ice-cream that would look adorable with the session. You should have seen her eyes when I came back with it. She was in heaven, and it made for adorable pictures too.
I love teaching workshops, it gives me a sense of purpose. Opening my brain to help others just feels right.
I can’t wait till my Wish Retreat this summer.
